The holidays are ON US, not upon us. Since when did Thanksgiving come so fast? Was is yesterday that I read a book on the pier in Branford?
I feel like vendors and stores has made this almost laughable.
In January, they put out St Patrick decor. In early January, they put out Valentines stuff.
In February, they put out Memorial Day decor, picnic stuff, plastic Day-Glo pink and green cups, umbrellas, and lawn chairs.
In March, It is Mothers Day.
In April, Fathers day stuff, graduation, confirmation and communion stuff, not to mention all the sports stuff.
In May, more graduation, homecoming and bird feeders.
In June, they put out 4th of July stuff.
In July, back to school stuff.
In August, the labor day stuff more halloween stuff
In September, thanksgiving stuff
In October, thanksgiving stuff and pre christmas stuff. This is when I am getting really nervous.
In November, more christmas stuff
In late December, all the late closeouts form every f----- past holiday.
It is sensory overload to the ninth degree. I was getting my hair done, and I am listening to Elvis Christmas songs. I said, either turn that shit off, or I am leaving. Who does that?It is Nov 23RD!!!!!!!!!! Can I atleast pay off my credit card from last year.
Black Friday. Traffic jams, getting the finger, lines of crowded registers. Give me Overstock.com. Redenvelope.com, ebay. more ebay,.Zappos.com. Northface, Eddie Bauer, gilt.com, and online Walmart. Hit purchase. and wait by the door.
Do I sound like Scrooge? No, sorry. I am a mom and a Flight Attendant. I am on my feet all day. Getting stuff shipped, already wrapped, is almost sexy/
Maybe, there will Be actual non- nerve racking music on the day of the actual holiday.
